The Game Awards ceremony has become among the most famous video game awards on the internet. The nominees for the 2023 edition has been announced.
Started almost 9 years ago, The Game Awards ceremony has become among the most famous video game awards on the internet. It is founded, managed and hosted by the famous video game journalist Geoff Keighley.
There are many reasons behind why the awards ceremony is very famous. First is, it’s managed very well. Second, it’s streamed live worldwide. Third, everyone can vote to choose the winners.
The nominees for the 2023 edition of The Game Awards has been announced. Available via a YouTube video or through the official site.
Game Of The Year 2023
This year, six games have been nominated for the Game Of The Year. They are:
- Alan Wake 2 – Remedy Entertainment / Epic Games Publishing (PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S).
- Baldur’s Gate 3 – Larian Studios (PC and PlayStation 5).
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Insomniac Games / SIE (PlayStation 5).
- Resident Evil 4 – Capcom (PC, PlayStation 5 / 4 and Xbox X|S).
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo EPD / Nintendo (Nintendo Switch).
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo EPD / Nintendo (Nintendo Switch).
In total. There are 31 categories in the 2023 game awards. All of them can be checked through their official site.
As per a tweet by Geoff Keighley, the games which have been nominated for the 2023 edition of The Game Awards are selected by a global jury of over 120 media outlets.
Interestingly, with the nominations of both Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom together, it’s after years that two Nintendo first party games have been nominated for the Game Of The Year award in a single edition.
Another interesting thing is that both Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 have 8 nominations each in each of the respective categories – the highest among all the games. The second in the list is the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with 7 nominations across the different categories.

It’s very simple to vote on The Game Awards. Open the official site. Sign in by clicking the sign-in button on the top right. Start voting starting with The Game Of The Year.
Just a reminder. Horizon Zero Dawn too was nominated for The Game Of The Year in 2017. We had reviewed Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition’s PC version a few days ago.
